Road accidents kill 7
Seven people were killed and 31 others injured in separate road accidents in Gazipur, Naogaon and Natore yesterday.
A correspondent from Gazipur reports: At least three people were killed and 30 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside canal at Gazipur Sadar upazila yesterday morning.
One of the deceased was identified as Siddique Ahmed, 70, of Khanchana village in Satkania upazila of Chittagong.
Witnesses said a Tangail-bound bus of Sonia Paribahan from Chittagong fell into the canal just before boarding Nagda Bridge on Dhaka bypass road.
Locals and firefighters recovered three bodies from the canal and rescued the other passengers.
Our Chapainawabganj correspondent says: A driver of a bhutbhuti, locally made three-whleer, was killed as a bus of Hanif Enterprise hit the bhutbhuti at Akhera village of Mohadevpur upazila in Naogaon yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ayen Uddin, 45, son of Abdul Jabbar, of Swarasatipur village of Mohadevpur of Naogaon.
Our Natore correspondent adds: Three people were killed and another was injured in two separate road accidents at Singra and Baraigram yesterday.
In Baraigram, two people were killed on the spot and another was critically injured when a Rajshahi-bound truck from Baraigram hit a battery run auto-rickshaw from behind at Khejurtala yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Sanai Mia, 38, son of Lokim Uddin of village Khedirchal of Gurudaspur upazila and Ashraful Alam, 45, son of Mamtajul Islam of village Dhanura of the same upazila.
Injured Ayen Uddin was admitted to a local hospital.
In Singra, a three-wheeler driver was killed as it overturned at Bondar of the upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Gonesh Chandra Saha, 32, son of Nikat Chandra Saha, of village Nepaldeghi of Sadar upazila.
