President stresses trade ties with Kyrgyzstan
President Iajuddin Ahmed yesterday said there are immense potentials to increase bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan.
“Bangladesh has been producing world class pharmaceutical goods, melamine, garments and jute goods, and Kyrgyzstan could be benefited using the Bangladeshi products,” he told newly appointed Kyrgyzstan Ambassador to Bangladesh Orolbaeva Irina Abdyevna when she presented her credentials to him at Bangabhaban.
The president expressed his confidence that the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan would be strengthened further in the days to come.
He underscored the need for taking measures towards increasing people-to-people contact between the two Muslim countries to bolster the bilateral relations.
Iajuddin apprised the Kyrgyz envoy of education facilities in Bangladesh, including opportunity for world class engineering, medical and science and technology education. He said Kyrgyz students could enjoy the facility studying at different educational institutions here. Referring to domestic politics, the president said the present government is fully committed to holding a free, fair and transparent election creating a level-playing ground for all prospective participants within the envisaged timeframe. He said the government is also determined to fight against organised crime and corruption and ensure good governance and accountability at all spheres. Mentioning Bangladesh's deep commitment towards international peace, Iajuddin said, ”The country has earned laurels for its international peacekeeping role.”
He appreciated the commitment of professionalism as demonstrated by Bangladesh military contingents working in various UN peacekeeping missions across the world and hoped that Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan would continue to work together for peace and stability of the world.
The Kyrgyz envoy praised Bangladesh's role in international arena and hoped that the ties in several fields between the two countries would be strengthened further. She emphasised increasing educational exchange programmes between the two countries. Orolbaeva
Irina said Kyrgyzstan has expertise in the filed of hydroelectric project, which can be used in Bangladesh to solve its power problems.
