Seminar on religions for peace held
The Centre for Inter-religious and Intercultural Dialogue of Dhaka University and the Episcopal Commission for Inter-religious Dialogue Bangladesh jointly organised an international seminar on “Religions for Peace and Harmony” yesterday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique formally inaugurated the seminar while Eminence Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran attended it as chief guest. The seminar was also addressed by Archbishop Joseph Marino, Most Rev, Paulinus Costa, Prof Syed Anwar
Husain, Prof. Aminul Islam and Prof Kazi Nurul Islam.
Prof Arefin said religion is a great force and all religions claim to be about finding peace and harmony within ourselves. We should make continuous effort to understand the popular religions of the world and find out a secular message for the entire mankind.
It is well known that prophets, saints, sages and incarnations have appeared in different parts of the world in various times in order to teach and train mankind how to live and let live in peace and harmony, he said.
