47 Rab men get certificates for combating crimes
The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday awarded certificates to its 47 members for their role in combating crimes and militancy and arresting criminals and militants.
Rab Director General (DG) Hasan Mahmud Khandakar awarded them at a function at the Rab headquarters while Rab Additional DG Col Gulzar Uddin spoke.
Rab officials said the certificates were given to those members who played vital roles in combating crimes, arresting criminals and militants, recovering illegal firearms and ammunition, and drugs, conducting drives against illegal VOIP equipment and smuggling of artefacts.
Rab sources said they arrested 13,472 criminals, 142 militants and 50 people in connection with smuggling of artefacts last year.
Besides, they recovered 1,389 arms, 18,703 bullets, 29 kilograms of heroin, 1,20,000 bottles of phensidyl, 9,000 bottles of liquor 1,40,251 pieces of Yaba tablets and VOIP equipment.
