Nine youths held in city

Police arrested nine youths on charges of robberies and recovered one revolver, seven rounds of bullet, and seven machetes in two separate drives in the city's Badda yesterday.
Tuhin, 20, Parvej, 22, Sabuj, 25, Ilias, 25, Abdullah, 26, Al Amin, 20, and Sajeeb, 25, were held with the revolver and bullets and two machetes in the wee hours.
With five machetes Billal Hossain, 25, and Selim Hossain, 22, were arrested yesterday morning.
Badda Police Station Officer-in-charge Mahbubur Rahman said the detained youths were involved in different robberies in the area.
Meanwhile, Gulshan police yesterday arrested a fraud who identifying himself as a colonel has been cheating people.
Sub-inspector Kamrul Ahsan said Abul Kashem, 48, had collected over Tk 2.65 crore from people with fake assurance of providing jobs.
