Muggers shoot 2, loot money
Muggers shot two employees of a car showroom in broad daylight and made way with Tk 11 lakh at Bijoynagar in the capital.
Bless Car Corner employees Kamal Khan, 35, and Momin Pathan, 22, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with bullet wounds to their legs.
They said eight armed criminals on four motorbikes ambushed them around 3:30pm when they were near the Kakrail branch of Shah Jalal Islami Bank to deposit the money. They were transferring the money from one bank to another on a motorbike.
"When the criminals intercepted us, we tried to escape. As the criminals tried to snatch away the bag containing the money, we got involve in a scuffle and at one stage they shot us and sped away with the money,” said Kamal Khan, nephew of the owner of Bless Car Corner.
Bless Car Corner Manager Omar Faruq Khokan told The Daily Star that the criminals might have followed Kamal and Momin from Shantinagar from where they drew the money.
"Kamal and Momin tried their best to protect the money from the criminals, but they failed as none went forward to help them," said Khokan.
Contacted, Paltan police said they hard about the incident but none was arrested and the money was yet to be recovered.
