Enayetur Rahman to face trial

The Supreme Court yesterday cancelled a High Court verdict that quashed the proceedings against ntv Managing Director Enayetur Rahman in a corruption case.
Police filed the case with Pallabi Police Station in 2007 against Enayetur on charge of illegally purchasing a tax-free car from the then lawmaker Harun-or-Rashid. The Anti-Corruption Commission then took the case for its proceeding.
The seven-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque yesterday also ruled that the proceedings of the case against Enayetur will run at the trial court.
ACC's lawyer MA Aziz Khan told The Daily Star that there is no bar to proceed with the corruption case against Enayetur Rahman following the SC order.
