British minister optimistic about election in Bangladesh

British Transport Minister J Fitzpatrick, MP has said they are optimistic about the next national election in Bangladesh, since the authorities have taken up some measures towards a democratic process.
He said these while talking to newsmen at a hotel in Sylhet yesterday.
Fitzpatrick said there had been a longstanding relation between the UK and Bangladesh. The members of the Bangladesh origin community in the UK had been playing unique role in the society there. Many of those are well paced in different sectors. They are contributing well for strengthening UK economy for ages. The bilateral relations will be further developed in the future, he asserted.
The UK extended supports to the present administration, he added.
Later, he addressed a reception at the city's Madan Mohan College. The minister's wife Dr Shila Fitzpatrick, Howard Dover, Nora Mebin, councilor Mobinuzzaman, Prof Atiullah, Prof Nilkanta Dey, Prof Abinash Chowdhury and Principal Ataur Rahman Pir also spoke on the occasion.
