Singer and TV show host Elita Karim unfolded another landmark of her creative career by acting in the ongoing popular serial “Mukim Brothers”, currently running on Channel i. Based on Mostafa Sarwar Farooki's story, the serial has been written and directed by Ashfaque Nipun.
Playing a guest character named 'Dooty' who is visiting Bangladesh from the US, Elita is seen in four consecutive episodes of the serial.
“My role in 'Mukim Brothers' is a lot of fun. I get entangled in all the activities of the family, especially between the two brothers who are always at daggers drawn with each other. I played the character because Ashfaque Nipun had requested me to do so.”
Asked about her experiences in a new medium, Elita said, “Even though I had acted in a single-episode play directed by Kawshik Shankar Das four years ago, I was very nervous while working in 'Mukim Brothers'. I think I worked hard for the character. 'Mukim Brothers' is filled with comic elements, which is why after a while I was relaxed. Everyone, including the director, had helped me a lot.”
Vocalist of the band R-Take, Elita Karim regularly performs at concerts and music shows aired live on television channels. “A mixed album, which will have one of Re-Take's singles, will come out very soon. My solo album is also in the pipeline. As this is going to be my first solo, I'm taking some time working on it. I hope I can have it out by next year.”
Aside from hosting and performing on several live shows on stage, radio and television, Elita Karim is the editor of the weekly magazine, Star Campus, of The Daily Star.
