Marking four decades of Victory, Bangladesh Shilpakala academy (BSA) is holding a 16-day Bijoy Utshab (Victory Day Festival), featuring a number of cultural programmes at its premises. With the theme 'Banglar Mati Durjoy Ghati, Bujhe Nik Durbritto', the festival began on December 1 at BSA's Unmukto Moncho (open stage).
Major attractions at the festival include solo and group recitation and renditions, dance performances by noted and emerging artistes and troupes, jatra pala and street play by several cultural organisations, and magic shows by illusionists.

Singers Monsura Begum, Arifur Rahman, Hashi Biswas, Chhaya Karmakar, Nargis Rahman, Lubna Yasmin Moli, Tanmoy Sarkar and Syed Ashikur Rahman rendered solos, while noted reciters Mahidul Islam and Kazi Arif read out narratives on the Liberation War and Martyred Intellectuals respectively.
Artistes of Udichi staged group recitations while artistes of several musical troupes like Rabirashmi, Protiti and others performed patriotic songs.

To the song “Bangladesh…Tomar Tulona Kothao Pabo Na”, dancers of “Nrityadhara” proudly waved the national flag of Bangladesh as part of their dance presentation. Another group dance by artistes of Mukul Nrityakala followed.
The highlight of the event was a solo dance performance by Samina Hussain Prema. Prema's dance to “Sharthak Janam Amar Jonmechhi Ei Deshey” seemingly enthralled the audience. Her evocative expressions tuned to the patriotic Rabindra Sangeet was a heartfelt ode to the beloved motherland.
Directed by illusionist A.H. Rana, a few performers also entertained the audience with magic.
Emceed by Sejutee, the programme was directed by Mahmud Selim.
The programme ends today.
