China-Norway deal signed
Despite a row between Beijing and Oslo over the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to a jailed Chinese dissident, trade ties appear to be intact as a Chinese oil firm signed a deal with Norway's Statoil.
China Oilfield Services, a unit of the country's biggest offshore oil firm, announced its European subsidiary had won the five-year drilling contract in the North Sea last Friday -- the same day as the Nobel prize ceremony in Oslo.
Statoil also published a short statement on its website announcing the deal on the eve of the controversial ceremony, which Beijing had angrily described as a "farce" and "political theatre".
