Abdul Matin new ICAPP vice-chair
Abdul Matin Khasru, former law minister and Awami League law secretary, has been elected vice-chairperson of International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in its sixth general assembly in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, said a press release.
ICAPP is a forum of political parties of Asia-Oceanian countries, initiated in 2000. It aims to strengthen democracy and improve living standards in the region through cooperation and exchange of knowledge among political parties.
Khasru attended the sixth general assembly of the forum as the representative of AL President and Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina.
BNP leader Dr Khandker Mosharraf Hossain represented BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Golam Moshi, secretary-in-charge of international affairs of Jatiya Party (Ershad), for his party.
A total of 326 delegates from 89 political parties of 36 Asian countries attended the four-day conference that started on December 1.
