Tannery gutted in Ctg
A fire gutted rawhide, chemicals, and machineries of a tannery at Oxygen intersection in the port city yesterday.
Sources said the fire broke out at Madina Tannery at about 9:00am.
Several rawhides, chemicals and spray machineries were gutted in the fire, said Station Officer Md Mamunur Rashid of Bayezid Fire Station.
Two fire fighting units from the fire station went to the spot and managed to douse the blaze around 10:40am.
Fire service officials said the fire was originated from an electric short circuit and the loss was estimated at Tk 10 lakh.
The owner of the tannery Abu Mohammad, however, claimed the loss in the fire could not reach over Tk 2 lakh.
