2 robbers beaten to death

Two alleged robbers of a gang were beaten and stabbed to death by a mob when they were fleeing after looting a house and wounding four house members in Savar early yesterday.
In another incident, a gang of robbers looted valuables of a garments factory injuring its six security guards in the capital's suburb Ashulia.
The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 52, and Siddiqur Rahman, 40, of Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj district.
Shah Alam, his wife Samia Akhter, son Md Shahriar and daughter Shahrina Akhter were knifed by the criminals during the robbery.
Injured Shahriar said a group of 10-12 masked robbers equipped with firearms and sharp weapons entered their house, which was under construction, crossing the boundary wall around 1:30am.
“As we cried out for help sensing their presence, the criminals stabbed us indiscriminately,” he said.
The gang took away cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones worth Tk 150,000, he added.
Hearing their cries, locals chased the gang and caught the two at Deogaon village.
At one stage, the mob started beating them leaving the duo dead before police could reach the spot, said Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Savar Police Station.
Other robbers, however, managed to escape, police said.
Injured house members were admitted to a local hospital while the bodies of two robbers were sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
Savar police said they managed to trace the identity of two dacoits from the cellphone of deceased robber Shahidul.
Shah Alam filed a robbery case accusing 10-12 unknown criminals while Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam of the police station filed a murder case accusing 200-300 unnamed persons in the area.
In Ashulia, a gang of 20-25 robbers looted valuables from Confidence Knitting Industries at Kabirpur injuring its six security guards early yesterday.
Factory officials said the robbers entered the factory by scaling the boundary wall at about 2:30am and took away cotton, thread and machinery parts.
The robbers injured the security guards as they tried to resist them, the officials added.
