Stalkers are criminals: IGP

Now incidents of stalking have gained more attention in the society as people have become more conscious of the crime, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmood Khandker said yesterday.
He told journalists at a briefing at Rapid Action Battalion headquarters in the city. The IGP said the stalkers should not be referred to "teasers” but termed criminals.
“It is a positive sign that the society is not turning a blind eye to the issue anymore but has started to raise its voice against the hoodlums who harass young women,” IGP Hassan Mahmood said.
Replying to a query, the IGP denied the allegation of cordoning off BNP's office at Gulshan on Tuesday night.
