Poet Khan Muhammad Moinuddin's birth anniversary observed

Kobi Moinuddin Academy and Manikganj Shahitya O Shangskritik Shangshad jointly organised a discussion and cultural programme at Captain Abdul Halim Chowdhury auditorium in Manikganj recently. The occasion was 109th birth anniversary of poet Khan Muhammad Moinuddin.
The organisers also awarded a gold medal to writer Azharul Islam for publishing a book, titled “Manikganjer Shoto Manik”.
Syed Mohammad Abdul Mannan, lawmaker from Manikganj-2 constituency, was present at the function as chief guest.
Nazrul researcher and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj, Mohammad Zakir Hossain, presided over the event and Shamsuj Jahan Noor, secretary of Kobi Moinuddin Academy, conducted the function.
At a discussion on the life and works of Moinuddin, speakers were of the view that the late poet spoke the language of the masses and his works were easy to grasp. Among his creations, “Oi dekha jaye taal gachh, oi amader ga; Oi khanete bash korey kana bogir chha” still remains one of the most popular rhymes for children.
Later a cultural event was held where renowned singer Yasmin Mushtari and local artistes performed. Dr. AKM Syedul Haque and poet SM Badsha recited poems. Several hundred people from all walks of life enjoyed the function.
