BSF kills 1
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader on Jagdal border under Baliadangi upazila in Thakurgaon early yesterday.
The victim was identified as Marjul alias Majed, 24, son of Nazrul Islam of Choroigati village in the upazila.
BDR and local sources said BSF opened fire on a group of cattle traders near the boarder at about 2:30am.
Marjul sustained severe injuries while the others managed to escape unhurt.
Later, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Baliadangi health complex at about 3:30am.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
An unnatural death case was filed with Baliadangi Police Station in this connection.
Commanding Officer Lt Colonel Mahfuz Alam of 20 Rifles Battalion confirmed the incident. He said they strongly protested the unprovoked killing and asked their Indian counterpart to refrain from such shooting.
