Ex-NSI chief to be quizzed in Dhaka
Former chief of National Security Intelligence (NSI) Rezzaqul Haider was being interrogated at the CID headquarters in the capital last night for his alleged involvement in the sensational Chittagong arms haul case.
Earlier, a CID team along with Rezzaqul left the port city at about 10:00am yesterday for the CID headquarters, said Mohammad Muslim, special superintendent of police and also the supervisor of the case.
On March 9 this year, Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Osman Gani placed the former NSI chief on a six-day remand in the case following a prayer.
Mohammad Moniruzzaman, CID's senior assistant superintendent of police and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the prayer.
Earlier, he was remanded for 14 days in three phases in connection with the case.
He was remanded for three days at CID's Chittagong divisional headquarters from May 17, 2009, for six days at Task Force Intelligence (TFI) cell in Dhaka from June 02, 2009 and for five days at the same cell from February 13, 2010.
The case was filed under section 19 (ka) of the Arms Act, sources said.
Rezzaqul along with another ex-NSI chief Brig Gen (retd) Abdur Rahim, were arrested in Dhaka on May 16 last year following the confessional statement of former NSI director (security) wing commander Sahab Uddin.
