Four muggers held in Barguna, two drug peddlers in Narsingdi
Local people caught four muggers in Keramatpur area of Patharghata municipality while they were fleeing after stabbing and looting belongings of a night guard on Sunday night.
The muggers are Shamim, Belal Hossain, Swapan and Saidul Islam, residents of the municipal town.
Police said six muggers intercepted night guard Badal while he was returning to the municipal town from his Banshtala village at around 8:00pm. They stabbed the night guard and snatched his gold chain and a mobile phone set.
Hearing scream, local people chased the muggers, caught four gang members and beat them up. Two other muggers--Topu and Sumon-managed to flee. Later, the muggers were handed over to the police.
Injured night guard was admitted to Patharghata hospital in a critical condition.
In Narsingdi, two drug peddlers were arrested along with phensidyl syrup in Battola area of the district town on Saturday night.
The arrestees are Swapan, 22, son of Kamruzzaman, and Faisal, son of Zaman of Baniachal area of the town.
Acting on tip-off, a team of DB police raided the area at around 10:00pm and arrested them along with 40 bottles of phensidyl syrup.
A case was filed against the two with Sadar Police Station under Narcotics Control Act.
