5 killed in road accidents
At least five persons were killed in separate road accidents in Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Satkhira, Manikganj and Mirsarai on Tuesday night and yesterday.
Our correspodent from Dinajpur reports: Two persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Dinajpur yesterday.
The deceased were indentified as Sajahan Ali, 28, son of Md Saifuddin Ahmed, village Mohadevpur under Dinajpur Sadar upazila and Md Yakub Ali, 60, of Bholanathpur of Chirirbandar upazila in the same district.
Police said the accident took place when a speedy passenger bus hit Sajahan while he was going to Dasmail riding his bicycle, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police said another accident took place on Tuesday evening when a shallow-engine-run three-wheeler hit Yakub while he was returning home from Chirirbandar Bazar injuring him critically.
Local rushed him to Chirirbandar Upazila Health Complex.
Later, he had been shifted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.
Our correspondent from Satkhira adds: An old woman was killed in a road accident on Khulna-Paikgachha road at Jatpur bazar in Tala upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Aimon Bibi, 90, wife of Ayej Uddin of village Atarai in Tala upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a motorcycle hit her while the victim was crossing the road leaving her injured seriously.
She succumbed to her injuries on way to Tala Hospital.
RU correspondent says: One motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at Puthia Upazila in Rajshahi yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Rubel Ahmed of Jamnagar village under Baghatipara upazila in Natore.
Locals and police said the accident occurred when a Pabna-bound passenger bus hit a motorcycle from behind Khutipara area leaving the motorcycle rider Rubel seriously injured around 3:45pm.
Locals rescued Rubel and sent him to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
Following the accident, locals set fire to the bus and blocked the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway for an hour.
A correspondent from Mirsarai adds: A bus skidded off the Dhaka-Chittagong highway injuring at least 14 passengers at Bartakia in Mirsarai around 4:00am yesterday.
Police said the accident took place when the driver lost his control over the steering while the bus was running on high speed.
Around 13 to 14 of wounded passenger were received medical treatment in Chittagong Medical college Hospital.
Our correspondent from Manikganj reports: One motorcyclist was killed and another injured when a speedy bus hit them at Pukuria of Ghior upazila in Manikganj yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Dhonu Saha, 35, son of Deben Saha of
Kolia Baghjan under Shivalaya upazila in the district.
Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ghior Police Station, said the
accident occurred at around 6:00 pm when a Dhaka-bound speedy
bus hit the two motorcyclists from opposite site, leaving Dhonu dead on the spot.
Seriously injured Deben Saha father of Dhonu was taken to Manikganj Sadar Hospital.
After the accident, angry people blocked the Dhaka-Aricha highway for half an hour.
