18 FFs leave for India to celebrate Victory Day
Eighteen freedom fighters, led by Maj Gen (retd) Imam-Uz-Zaman, left for Kolkata yesterday to join the Indian Army in celebrating the Victory Day at Fort William, the headquarters of Eastern Command of Indian Army.
The Indian government has instituted joint celebration of freedom fighters and Indian Army every year.
The group also includes Col (retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury (Sector Commander), Aly Zaker, Sara Zaker and Bulbul Mahalanobis, said an Indian High Commission release.
The three-day celebrations include a Tattoo and military band display, a cultural programme and Bara Khana with the Indian Army troops that were scheduled for yesterday and today.
