Punish stalkers for killing Hannan, demand protesters

A human chain was formed in Chapainawabganj town yesterday demanding arrest and exemplary punishment of the stalkers who killed Abdul Hannan, a guard of the district office of the Roads and Highways Department, on September 7.
Leaders and activists of different social organisations, guardians, teachers and students of girls' schools join the programme organised by Jago Nari Bonhi Shikha, a women's organisation, in front of Shaheed Satu Hall.
The protesters also held a rally at the venue and later submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner demanding immediate arrest of the killers of Abdul Hannan.
Gori Chand Situ, convener of Jago Nari Bonhi Shikha, Monimud Dowla Chowdhury, vice president of Red Crescent society, Dr Jobeda, joint convener of Sachetan Nagorik Committee, Chapainawabganj Government Girls' High School teacher Sharif Azam, and Roads and Highways Sramik Union leader Motiur Rahman spoke at the rally.
Abdul Hannan, 45, was beaten up to death by a gang of stalkers for protesting their immoral acts at Rehaichar under Chapainawabganj municipality on September 7.
Israil Hossain , 24, Saiful Islam, 28, and Anwarul Islam, 45, of Rehaichar area of the town used to stalk Fatema Akhter Bristy, a class ten student of Kamal Uddin Girls' High School, on way to school.
When Bristy and her mother Mahmuda Khatun were returning home after taking bath in the Mohananda River at around 2:30pm on September 7, Israil, Saiful and Anwarul started teasing them. At this, Mohammad Ali, father of Bristy and also a peon of the Roads and Highway Department, came to protest it and was assaulted by the stalkers.
As Hannan came forward to help Mohammad Ali, the gang took him to a salon and beat him dead.
Though a murder case was filed with Sadar Police Station immediately after the incident, police could not arrest any of the accused as of yesterday.
