Work for nation building: President
President Zillur Rahman has urged the people to engage themselves in the nation building activities from their respective positions by discarding the path of greed and shabbiness.
“Let us turn Bangladesh into a happy and prosperous country by employing our merits, creativity and deeds,” he said at an August 15th discussion at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city yesterday.

He said the concerted efforts of all people would have to be continued for implementation of the programmes. “Our responsibility would be to transform Bangabandhu's dream, Sonar Bangla, into reality.”
Zillur Rahman recalled that the aim and objective of Bangabandhu's life was to improve the quality of livelihood of the country's poverty stricken people and he always stood by the oppressed and deprived people forever.
“Bangabandhu fought throughout his life for establishment of the people's right,” he said, adding he never did politics for establishing his own supremacy, fame, name and power but for ensuring the welfare for the common people.
The President mentioned that Bangabandhu had led the movements of the 1971's great Liberation War, the subsequent elections, 1966's Six-points demand, 1962's Education Movement, 1958's Anti-military rule Movement, 1956's Constitution Establishment Movement and 1952's Language Movement.
