BIRD FLU Need for creating mass awareness underscored
Speakers at a three-day workshop that concluded in the port city yesterday underscored the need for creating mass awareness and preparedness to prevent bird flu and pandemic flu.
They also urged all to remain alert against rumor and consequent panic that might prompt unnecessary destruction of poultry.
Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) organised the workshop titled 'Bird flu and pandemic flu awareness and preparedness' in association with UNICEF at Chittagong Press Club conference room.
Architect Taslim Uddin Chowdhury, also the editor of the daily Purbokone, was present at the concluding ceremony as the chief guest.
Veteran journalist and columnist Moyeenul Alam presided over the concluding ceremony where Chittagong Press Club (CPC) President Ali Abbas, Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) President Shahid Ul Alam were special guests. CPC General Secretary Ejaz Yusufi, BSS Senior Staff Reporter Kashem Mahmud and PIB Instructor Shah Alam Saikat also addressed the programme conducted by Shamima Nasreen.
