HC stays Milon's property attachment order
The High Court (HC) yesterday stayed for three months a trial court order that directed the authorities concerned to confiscate the properties of former BNP state minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon.
A Chandpur court on July 8 this year directed the officials concerned to attach the properties of Milon in connection with a certificate case filed against him under the Public Demand Recovery Act.
An HC bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Syeda Afsar Jahan yesterday also issued a rule upon the government to explain within four weeks why the case against Milon should not be quashed and the order of property attachment declared illegal.
The bench came up with the order following a writ petition filed by Milon challenging the filing of the case against him and the trial court order.
Another HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque, following a bail petition by Milon, yesterday granted ad-interim bail for three months to him in an extortion case filed in Chandpur in July this year.
