Principal assaulted

Students of Bhulua Degree College allegedly manhandled the principal yesterday as he served a show cause on a teacher.
They also brought out procession demanding removal of the principal, ransacked and locked classrooms.
Witnesses and general students said Azam Hossain, a lecturer of English department, was show caused on May 29 for his absence in the college for over one month without prior permission of the authorities.
The teacher replied to the notice on August 4 explaining reasons and regretting his inability to inform the matter in time.
But all of a sudden the students vandalised the college and assaulted me, alleged Abu Zafar Md Harun, principal of the college.
He said the show cause was issued following a unanimous decision by the college governing body.
He also accused Azam of instigating the students.
Contacted, Azam denied the allegations saying he was not aware of any protest by the students.
