3 injured as BCL, Moitree at RU clash
Three people were injured as the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Chhatra Moitree clashed on Tuesday night at Rajshahi University.
Sources said the clash took place after BCL activist Arif locked in an altercation with Moitree activist Saymond over a trivial issue at around 8.00pm in front of the Bangabandhu Hall.
Later a group of BCL men led by Arif attacked Moitree men leaving Moitree RU unit joint convener Ashraful Haldar and activist Symond injured.
Hearing the news, Moitree activists gathered in front of the hall premise at around 10.00pm and made a revenge attack on the BCL men leaving Arif seriously injured in his hand.
With slab young Arif was admitted to the Rajshahi Medical Hospital while two Moitree men were given first aid at the university medical centre.
Following the incident BCL activist Arif filed a case against 11 Moitree men including RU unit Moitree convener Mazharul Islam Ripon, Rajshahi city unit secretary Aksaruzzaman Suman and activist Symond with Motihar police station.
Meanwhile, a group of local BCL cadres on Tuesday night severely stabbed a student of RU at Binodpur Bazar near the university.
Witnesses said a group of BCL men led by Mehedi, Shuvo and Suman of the area, stabbed Zahurul Islam, a second year student of Genetic Engineering department in his head and chest and took away mobile phone set and seven thousand taka from his procession.
