State awards Tk 1 lakh cash to Siddiqur
State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarkar announced a cash prize of Tk one lakh for golfer Siddiqur Rahman, who became the first Bangladeshi to win on the Asian Tour after defeating South Africa's Jbe Kruger in a nerve-racking play-off at the Brunei Open on Sunday.
The minister hoped that the brilliant success of Siddiqur would inspire the sports fraternity to bring more laurels for the country.
Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) also greeted Siddiqur Rahman for his achievement.
By winning the Brunei Open Golf Trophy, the first-ever professional golf trophy for Bangladesh, he earned a prize money of US$ 48,600 (equivalent to Bangladesh Tk 35 lakh).
On the other hand, Bangladesh Golf Federation gave a reception to Dulal Hossain and Zakiruzzaman at the Kurmitola Golf Club yesterday for their success in the 123rd Sri Lanka Open Amateur Golf Championship. The duo became champions in the team event while Zakiruzzaman finished runners-up in the individual event.
