Accused got job in same manner

Several arrested government employees who were trying to sell leaked question papers had actually got their jobs using question papers leaked from the Bangladesh Government Press.
Arrested Assistant Education Officer of Patuakhali Abul Bashar, Social Welfare Officer of Tejgaon Feradul Islam, government primary school teacher of Pathgram upazila in Lalmonirhat Rafiqul Islam, Mohidul Islam, Saiful Islam, Lalmonirhat Government High School teacher Motiar Rahman Saju, told police that they cheated their way into government jobs.
All but Saju were arrested on July 08 at a guesthouse of Gangachara upazila. Saju was arrested Wednesday and Tk 8 lakh was found in his bank account.
Saju admitted to police that he got the job of assistant teacher in public school in 2008 by buying question paper for the written test from the syndicate. He later on started looking for candidates of different government jobs to sell leaked written-test question papers to them.
Rafiqul Islam also admitted to police that he qualified in the written test for government primary school teacher in 2009 through the disclosed question papers. This time he went to the guesthouse with five candidates to get question papers for the written test. All of them were arrested there.
Rangpur superintendent of police said all the arrested government officials who were engaged in enticing candidates to sell the leaked question papers for the written test for government school assistant teachers, scheduled for July 09, had used leaked question themselves to get their jobs.
There are more government officials in different districts who got their jobs by cheating like this in their written exams and they too were involved in selling of question papers.
Police, however, did not mention their names for the sake of investigation.
Police sources said a district education officer in a northern district, a recently-recruited food official of Kathalbari in Kurigram, and a social welfare officer of Nilphamari were among those who cheated to get their jobs and were helping to sell the leaked question papers.
Superintendent of Police of Rangpur Saleh Mohammad Tanvir said, "Our primary focus is on the last incident. We are getting more information from the arrestees, mainly the government employees and officials, about how they were involved in the network that leaked question papers of job interviews."
A food inspector from Kathalbari in Kurigram who joined recently in the Rajshahi regional food office got 12 candidates from Kurigram. The candidates disclosed that they gave him Tk 2 to 4 lakh each for the question papers.

The syndicate also used union council chairman, teachers of non-government colleges and employees of coaching centres to collect candidate to sell the leaked question papers.
Most of these middlemen have been on the run since July 08.
If police can catch them, they will get a picture of the entire network of the syndicate in the North, the SP said.
DB police of Rangpur with help of police of Kaliganj in Lalmonirhat arrested Anisur Rahman and his younger brother Amzad Hossain Wednesday and brought them to Rangpur.
On interrogation Anisur and Amzad disclosed the name of Saju. They said Saju collect candidates from them in exchange for money. Later in the afternoon police arrested Saju. They found Tk 8 lakh in Saju's account at Rangpur branch of Prime Bank.
Saju told interrogators that on July 08 he deposited about Tk 21 lakh in the account of arrested Safiar Rahman.
Saju was present at the guesthouse on July 8 when police raided the place and arrested 167 people in connection with leaking the question papers for written test for public high school assistant teachers.
He had managed to evade arrest that day.
