Pabna Drama Circle’s new organising committee

The newly formed organising committee of Pabna Drama Circle.

Pabna Drama Circle, a leading theatre organisation, has completed its council and formed a new organising committee. The council was held on July 8 in the organisation's premises. A discussion was also held. The new committee vowed to strengthen the theatre movement in the district.
President of the organisation Pradip Shannal Gopal chaired the discussion. President of Shammilito Shangskritik Aikko Jote Pabna Gonesh Das and secretary Asraf Hossain Rabi spoke on the occasion.
Theatre is a powerful tool of social mobilisation against injustice and social evils. The theatre movement has had an impact on all major movements in the country and needs to be strengthened, said the cultural activists.
Later the activists of Pabna Drama Circle reelected Gopal Shannal as president and voted Mostafizur Rahman Russell in as secretary of the organisation.
“Pabna Drama Circle has already gained popularity in Pabna as well as the northern districts. The organisation has been staging plays every year. We want to conduct more productions, and theatre classes are available for theatre activists,” said Russell.
Among those in the 13- member committee are Abdul Hafiz Ratan, Tarun Das Madan as the vice president, Sarwar Ullash as the joint secretary, Shanjoy Shaha as the organising secretary, Cynthia Rahman as cultural secretary, Aminul Islam as auditor, Saiful Islam Azam as the publication secretary and Shishir Islam as the office secretary.
The Pabna Drama Circle embarked on its journey in 1981 with the aim of mobilising the youth. The organisation has already presented 39 dramatic works, most of them social plays.
