Call to frame strict law to stop stalking

Speakers at a programme yesterday called for framing strict law and launching social movement from the family to stop stalking.
They also urged the people of all strata to come forward to check this social menace.
Wills Little Flower School Scout Group arranged the programme in front of Bashundhara City yesterday morning to create awareness about stalking of girls.
National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir, principal of the school Mohammad Moinul Islam Chowdhury, chairman of Paribesh Bachao Andolan Abu Naser Khan, Coordinator of the Anti-Tobacco Alliance Saifuddin Ahmed and Deputy National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts Md Jamal Uddin Sikdar spoke at the function.
Naser said the scouts could play an important role in checking stalking and protecting environment.
Terming stalking a social menace, other speakers said disgruntled boys mainly stalk school, college and university-going girls. So, they opined, social movement will have to be built from the family first.
They also called for creating mass awareness to keep away the young generation from smoking and drugs.
