Unilever CEO Paul Polman leaves today
Chief Executive Officer of Unilever Paul Polman is leaving today after his two-day visit to Bangladesh, says a press release.
A key objective of his visit is to better understand the consumers and customers of an important emerging market like Bangladesh.
He went to consumer homes and interacted with them directly for a better insight into their behaviours, needs and aspirations.
He also visited different markets in Dhaka city and met retailers. He also met with key external stakeholders of the company.
Paul was impressed by the warmth, hospitality and more importantly the resilience and the creativity of people of the country. This clearly reflects the potential Bangladesh has to develop in human capital and to realise its potential in the market.
He complimented the private sector and acknowledged the significant growth of both small micro-enterprise and large industries. He believes that trends like these will encourage foreign investors.
Paul also believes that the economic outlook of the country seems very promising.
He appreciated the projects that Unilever Bangladesh has undertaken to improve the people's lives by addressing issues in the areas of health and hygiene, education, women's empowerment, environment and supporting victims of natural disasters.
Such projects include the Lifebouy Friendship Hospital, Fair & Lovely Foundation, Pepsodent Dentibus and school programme.
