Man hacked to death in Kushtia
Criminals hacked a man to death in Mirpur upazila of the district Thursday night.
The dead was identified as Kaber Ali, 45, son of late Abu Bakkar of Dharmadah village in the upazila.
Police said Kaber went to Kazipur bazar in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district Thursday evening. He started for home at around 9:00pm.
A gang of seven to eight persons waylaid him as he reached Dharmadah bridge at about 9:30pm, witnesses said. The criminals hacked him indiscriminately and then hurled two bombs at him.
Locals rushed to the spot and found Kaber dead.
On information, Gangni police recovered the body. Later, they handed over the body to Kushtia police.
Kushtia police sent the body to Kushtia General Hospital.
The police could not ascertain the reason behind the killing. But they said Kaber was a member of an inter-district drug peddling gang.
Officer-in-Charge of Mirpur Police Station Mehedi Hasan said, “Conflict over sharing money from the sale of drugs might have caused the murder”.
However, the police are investigating the matter, the OC said.
