Kuril flyover work starts tomorrow
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the construction work of the 3.1-kilometre Kuril flyover tomorrow that connects the capital with Purbachal New Town.
On March 1, the cabinet purchase committee led by Finance Minister AMA Muhith approved the tender proposal of the flyover at a cost of around Tk 153 crore.
The construction is scheduled to complete in two years subject to the beginning of the work, said a Rajuk official.
The one-way flyover with four loops will be 6.7 to 9.7 metres wide and 48 feet high.
A 13 km long and 300 feet wide link road is also being developed as part of the Purbachal project.
The road would connect Kuril on the Airport Road, which is already serving as a major gateway for the northern districts, added the official.
The objectives of the flyover are to ease traffic congestion at Kuril intersection and on Airport Road, reduce vehicular movement on it and save travel time.
