Poets gather at an event
Over 100 poets, including around 50 poets from West Bengal, gathered at a function held at Mukul Niketon High school auditorium in the district town on April 12 evening. Poets from Dhaka and greater Mymensingh attended the event, much to the delight of poetry loving people in and around the town.
The huge gathering, was organised by Swatantra, a literary publication in Mymensingh. Local cultural groups - Kabita Bangla, Amaraboti Nattya Mondhir, Mukul Fouj Sangskritik Academy , Mymensingh Sahitya Sangsad and Nattangon Nattya Paribar joined hands with Swatantra to make the function a success.
Deputy Commissioner A.N Shamsuddin Azad Chowdhury inaugurated the gathering, while Professor Amir Ahmed Chowdhury, convener of Mymensingh Sangskritik Jote presided over the opening session.
Noted poet Ashim Saha, Mymensingh sadar upazila parishad chairman Fayzur Rahman Fakir, poets Pranab Kumar Bandhapadya, Shyamol Kanti Das of West Bengal Mrinal Bose Chowdhury and Shekhar Bose from West Bengal, poets - Mosharraf Karim, Shantanu Kaiser and Farid Ahmed Dulal of Bangladesh, among others addressed the inaugural session.
The gathering was followed by a poetry recitation.
