Locals protest 'misdeeds' of a constable in Rajshahi
Locals of Motihar area in Rajshahi city on Saturday formed a human chain demanding action against a constable of Motihar police station for his alleged criminal acts and harassment to the people.
Around 200 people formed the human chain at Talaimari crossing at around 11:00 am.
Later at rally, the speakers alleged that Motihar police station constable Anwar Hossain often harassed locals and threatened them to file false cases if they (locals) refused to meet his illegal demands.
They also alleged that Anwar is involved with different crimes like drug peddling and mugging.
Speakers called upon the police administration to take immediate steps to suspend Anwar.
They also threatened to go for tougher agitation programme if no action is taken against the constable immediately.
Ward councillor Ansar Ali and woman councillor Nurunnahar and several victims of the area spoke at the rally.
Police constable Anwar was not available for his comment.
Tofazzel Hossain, officer-in-charge of Motihar police station told this correspondent that he will take necessary steps after investigating the matter.
