Wife, son on remand

A judicial magistrate's court in Rangpur yesterday granted a three-day remand for Sufia Begum and one day for her son Shishir in connection with the murder of Sufia's husband Ahsanul Huq Belal, a trader residing at Mahiganj in Rangpur town.
In a prayer to the court of Magistrate Nityananda Roy, police had sought five-day remand for Sufia and Shishir.
Sufia Begum and her son need to be quizzed to know if any outsider was involved with the murder, said Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rashid.
Police recovered pieces of dead body of Ahsanul Huq on Monday night from Moyenakutti of Tapadhan union under Rangpur Sadar upazila and arrested wife of the deceased after locals had caught her with a sack containing the pieces of the body.
Police later arrested Shishir from their Mahiganj house in connection with the murder.
