12 Rohingyas arrested in Satkhira
Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) Sunday night arrested 12 Rohingyas including women and children while they were going to India through Laxmidari border.
But the traffickers who brought them from Chittagong could not be arrested, BDR sources said.
The arrestees are Yakub Ali, 60, son of Amir Ali, Lebas Khatun, 50, wife of Yakub Ali, Monowara Khatun, 21, Zohra Khatun, 19, and Tahera Begum, 17, daughters of Yakub Ali and Sohel, 12, son of Yakub Ali of village Boddarja Reajuddin Para and Nur Jahan, 23, wife of Amir Hossain, Yasmin, 12, and Asmita, 4, daughters of Amir Hossain and Rejwan Hossain, 17, son of Amir Hossain and Faruk Mia, 2, son of Bodi Alam and Humaira, 18, wife of Faruk Mia of village Laiyasong in Nemor police station in Kaowachong in Myanmar.
Quoting BDR and locals police said the Rohingyas entered Bangladesh crossing Chittagong border about eight days ago.
Later they came to Dhaka by train and reached Satkhira by bus on Sunday. BDR men arrested them while they were trying to cross Laxmidari border at about 8:00 pm.
Later the border guards handed them over to Sadar police and a case was filed.
