Arrested Jamaat-Shibir men sued under Arms Act
Ten Jamaat-Shibir activists, arrested at Far East Islami Life Insurance Company's office at Sahara Plaza in Natore town on Monday, were sent to jail yesterday.
Police arrested the Jamaat-Shibir men, including a teacher of Rajshahi University, while they were holding a secret meeting inside the office in the afternoon.
They were produced in the Chief judicial Magistrate's Court, Natore. After hearing, the magistrate rejected their bail prayers and sent them to jail hajat.
Earlier on the day, police filed a case against the Jamaat-Shibir men under Arms Act. Natore Circle Assistant Police Superintendent (ASP) Apel Mahmud said they filed the case as four knives were recovered from the bags of the arrestees.
Police interrogated the arrested Jamaat-Shibir activists at Sadar Police Station on Monday night. But they (Police) did not disclose anything to journalists.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reported that an accused in RU student Faruk murder case was arrested in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat district on Monday night.
The arrestee, Md Belal Hossain, 22, is an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir Rajshahi University unit and also a final year student of Islamic history department, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided Tilabdul village in Khetlal upazila at around 8:30pm and arrested Belal at the residence of Ershad Master.
Police said Belal along with some other Shibir activists left the RU campus after February 12 violence and took shelter at the house.
