‘Pay festival allowance, salary before Eid’

Bangladesh Non-government Educational Institution Employees' Federation yesterday urged the caretaker government to pay the salary for December and full festival allowance to the teachers and employees before Eid-ul Azha.
In a statement, Executive Secretary General of the federation Md Nurul Amin said teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions usually receive the cheques for their salary and festival allowance just a few days before Eid. But they cannot withdraw the money in time due to dilly-dallying by the banks.
Even it becomes difficult to withdraw the money 10 or 15 days after Eid, he said, adding that as a result, poor teachers and employees have to borrow money to celebrate the religious festival.
He has appealed to the education adviser and the authorities concerned to take necessary steps so that the teachers and employees can receive their salaries and festival allowance before Eid.
