Preserve liberation war history, FFs' memories
Speakers at a seminar yesterday demanded the history of the liberation war and the memories of the freedom fighters be preserved with a view to instill the spirit of the liberation war in the new generation.
They said the liberation war is the noblest achievement of the nation and freedom fighters are the greatest heroes. The glorious history of the freedom fighters can make the young generation a generation of true patriots.
Projonmer Chetona, a platform of youths, organised the programme at the Public Library auditorium.
Speaking at the function, Prof Muhammad Samad of Dhaka University said many people still do not feel the supreme sacrifice of the freedom fighters the way they should.
CBP leader Ruhin Hasan Prince called on the new generation to oppose the war criminals politically and win the battle against them.
Projonmer Chetona placed a seven-point recommendation at the seminar.
The recommendations include identifying graves of freedom fighters and preserving those with due respect, preserving newspapers published during the liberation war, executing trial of the war criminals at the Suhrawardy Udayan, taking legal action against people who were involved in distorting the history of the liberation war and bringing the graves of the freedom fighters, who were laid to rest in India, back to the country.
Justice Ghulam Rabbani, Lt Col (retd) Q Sazzad A Jahir and Mili Rahman, wife of Birshrestha Motiur Rahman, were present at the programme chaired by freedom fighter Momtaz Khan Pathan.
