10 injured by PBCP attackers at Belkuchi
At least 10 people were injured when some activists of Jonojuddho, a faction of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP), made an attack on a village at Belkuchi upazila here on Thursday night.
The outlaws also ransacked four shops and three houses and damaged goods as well as properties in the village. They also took away cash and valuables worth about Tk 2 lakh.
The injured were admitted to Belkuchi Upazila Health Complex, Khwaza Yunus Ali (Rh) Medical College and Hospital and Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
Of the injured, conditions of two were critical, hospital sources said.
Police said some 40 to 45 extremists wearing black masks on their faces and equipped with firearms stormed Shahpur Aguria village around 10.30pm and damaged the shops and three houses.
They also assaulted the shopkeepers and inmates of the four houses mercilessly, leaving 10 people injured.
On information, Belkuchi police rushed to the spot, but the outlaws left the spot chanting slogans of PBCP.
Contacted, Md Mosharraf Hossain, Superintendent of Police in Sirajganj said he was confused where the attackers were PBCP members.
