Prothom Alo celebrates 11th founding anniversary
The 11th founding anniversary of Bangla daily the Prothom Alo was celebrated across the country yesterday with the slogan "you start, others will definitely change".
The celebration was held at 22 different points in the capital and 150 places throughout the country. The main programme was held at Rabindra Sarobor in Dhanmondi.
Prothom Alo employees and members of Bandhu Shobha took position at 22 points in the capital and greeted people with gifts for using footbridges.
The daily has been campaigning to bring qualitative change in the society. It launched a campaign seeking pledges of bringing change from the citizens.
Thousands of people gathered at Rabindra Sarobor for the celebration. The programme started with Baul Samrat Shah Abdul Karim's song "agey ki shundor din kataitam".
Congratulating Prothom Alo's staff on the founding anniversary Prof Anisuzzaman in a brief discussion said, "Besides professional duties, Prothom Alo has been doing things that bring good to the society."
Prof Muzaffer Ahmad urged people not to do anything harmful to the environment and asked them to be aware so that nobody can grab the Dhanmondi playground.
Former adviser to the caretaker government Rasheda K Chowdhury, TIB Trustee Board Chairman M Hafizuddin Khan, FBCCI President Annisul Huq, The Daily Star Editor and Publisher Mahfuz Anam, Syed Abul Moksud, economist Salma Khan, Mohit Kamal, Asif Nazrul and Prothom Alo Deputy Editor Anisul Haque, among others, spoke at the discussion.
