'Moviyana Film Society' celebrates its first anniversary
“A singer can sing alone, a writer can write alone but a filmmaker never can make a film alone. He needs a unit and leadership skill to motivate them. A film society can generate these skills into film enthusiasts and activists and I think for this reason film societies are essential,” said renowned cinematographer and filmmaker Zahidur Rahim Anjan at a discussion programme. Anjan was the special guest at the programme.
The programme was arranged by Moviyana Film Society (MFS) to celebrate their first anniversary. The programme was held at the Isfendiar Zahed Hasan auditorium, Bishwa Shahitya Kendra on November 10.
Renowned filmmaker Morshedul Islam was the chief guest at the programme. In his speech, Morshedul Islam emphasised on the importance of filmmaking in the digital format in our country. He said, “Technically, to make the best quality film in 35 mm format we need several things such as high performance camera, good reel and well occupied studio, which are not widely available in our country. But in the digital format, one can make a film with a limited budget and the standard is quite comparable to the 35 mm standard.” Among others, president of 'Chipachas', Sushil Sutradhar spoke on the occasion. Adviser of Moviyana, Masud Ahmed presided over the programme.
To celebrate the anniversary, a daylong film screening was held at the venue. Four films made in digital format -- Choturthomatra directed by Nurul Alam Atique, Wahed Tareq's Shamparker Dana, Tokon Thakur's Black Out and Mridul Chowdhury's documentary Deshantori -- were screened. 11
