Udichi’s anniversary celebration in Dinajpur
Udichi's Dinajpur unit celebrated the organisation's 41st anniversary recently with cultural programmes, discussion and a procession in the town.
The programme held at Dinajpur Municipality Auditorium premises last Thursday evening was well attended by hundreds of people. Cultural activists and enthusiasts carrying colourful banners, festoons and placards marched the main streets of the district.
In the evening Md. Abdul Kalam Azad, a prominent cultural personality of the district and chief adviser of Dinajpur Udichi unit, inaugurated the programme.
Among others, Md. Shafiqul Haque, Mayor of Dinajpur Municipality; Md. Azizul Imam Chowdhury, president of Dinajpur Udichi unit; Mirza Anwarul Islam Tanu, convenor of Dinajpur Shammilito Shangskritik Jote and vice president of Dinajpur Udichi unit; Rezaur Rahman general secretary of Udichi and Md. Azadullah Sarker, joint general secretary of Dinajpur Udichi unit spoke at the discussion.
Udichi started its journey in 1968 and now has 300 branches across the country.
Second part of the celebration programme featured performances by the artistes of Dinajpur Udichi unit. Artistes presented songs, dances and recitation.
The programme started with a group song and dance performed by Udichi artistes.
Later a group of young actors staged the play "Warish". The play was scripted by Hira and directed by Nurul Islam Peter.
