Separate pay scale for teachers in next fiscal yr

The government is to introduce separate pay scale for teachers next fiscal year.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Md Motahar Hossain said this yesterday while speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony of "Manjur Scale", an equipment for geometrical drawing, at the National Press Club.
He also said more recruitments would be made to fill all posts under the primary and mass education ministry by December next to solve the teacher crisis.
"We have already taken some steps and will take some more to reform the primary and mass education system in Bangladesh, as the government has pledged to eradicate illiteracy from the country," he said.
He said the government is working with a vision to get all children in schools by 2010 and eradicating illiteracy from Bangladesh by 2013.
Describing the functions of the new scale, Manjurul Haque said, students can get rid of instruments of a geometrical box if they use the scale, which is very cheap.
