Rajeet replaces Pinak

India yesterday replaced its High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, according to an official announcement of Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Rajeet Mitter, ambassador to the Philippines, has been appointed to take Pinak's place. He will assume the diplomatic responsibilities in Dhaka shortly, says the announcement available on MEA website.
Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, who began working as Indian high commissioner in Dhaka in January 2007, will succeed Vijaya Latha Reddy as ambassador to Thailand, adds the announcement.
Pinak, who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1977, served as deputy high commissioner in Dhaka from 1999 to 2002.
Contacted, an Indian high commission official said Pinak's transfer comes on completion of his three-year stint here.
