Navy chief promoted to vice admiral

Chief of the Naval Staff Zahir Uddin Ahmed has been elevated to vice admiral, said an official announcement.
He was adorned with the badge of vice admiral at a simple ceremony at the Prime Minister's official residence Jamuna yesterday evening.
Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman and Principal Staff Officer of Bangladesh Army Maj Gen Abdul Wadud decorated the navy chief with the badge in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Zahir Uddin Ahmed assumed the duties of the Chief of Naval Staff as Rear Admiral on January 29 this year.
