High officials of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) yesterday started wearing its new uniforms.
The brown combat uniforms will be given to all BDR members gradually, the authorities said.
BDR DG Maj Gen Mainul Islam told The Daily Star, "I and some other senior officials wore new uniforms today. All the members of the force will also be given new uniforms gradually."
"New uniforms will be supplied gradually after the use of existing dresses," he added.
On August 19, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the new uniform of the border guards and also asked the authorities to bring some changes to the BDR reconstruction proposals submitted by the BDR DG, sources said.
The BDR DG yesterday again submitted the reconstruction proposals with changes to State Minister for Home Shamsul Huque Tuku and Home Secretary Abdus Sobhan for submitting them to the prime minister.
The government took an initiative to bring changes to BDR after the mutiny on February 25-26 inside Pilkhana and at several other places across the country.
