Local GMs toppled
Indian GM Dibyendu Barua and Georgian GM Mikheil Mchedlishvili weer at the top of the points table after the end of the seventh round of the 9th United Insurance & United Leasing Grandmasters Chess tournament yesterday.
Dibyendu regained top spot beating GM Igor Rausis of the Czech Republic while Mikheil beat FM Mehdi Hasan Parag. Both of them have collected 5.5 points each from seven rounds.
GM Reefat Bin Sattar, Georgian GM Gagunashvili Merab and India Bitan Banerjee jointly shared the second position with 5 points each.
Seven players -- Parag , Rausis, GM Neelotpal Das, GM Tejas Bakre, IM Atanu Lahiri and Bitan Banerjee and GM Rustam Khusnutdinov of Kazakistan -- were in the third position with 4.5 points.
In the seventh round matches, Reefat drew with Gagunashvili, Bitan beat GM Enamul Hossain Razib, Neelotpal drew with Khusnutdinov, GM Abdullah Al Rakib drew with FM Sahaj Grover, Bakre beat FM Vinoth Kumar, Atanu beat IM Vishal Sareen, Praveen Kumar beat Hasan M Emam, FM Mohammad Javed drew with GM Anuar Ismagambetov, FM Kh. Aminul Islam beat FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, FM Taibur Rahman drew with FM Sk. Nasir Ahmed, Shrestha Keshav beat FM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar, FM Abu Sufian Shakil beat Golam Moshtafa Bhuiyan, Debaraj Chatterjee beat Tandukar Naveen, Jamal Uddin beat Aminul Islam Polash, Nepal's Badrilal drew with FM Hamal Manish, Karma Pandya beat Abdullah Al Saif and Shrestha Bilam Lal drew with Ikramul Haque Siam.
